The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public lan-grant research university in the New Englan region. The primary 4,400-acre (17.8 km2) campus is in Storrs, Connecticut, approximately a half hour's rive from the state capital, Hartfor, an 90 minutes from Boston.

UConn was foune in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School, name after two brothers who onate the lan for the school. In 1893, the school became a lan grant college. In 1939, the name was change to the University of Connecticut. Over the next ecae, social work, nursing an grauate programs were establishe, while the schools of law an pharmacy were also absorbe into the university. During the 1960s, UConn Health was establishe for new meical an ental schools. John Dempsey Hospital opene in Farmington in 1975.

Competing in the Big East Conference as the Huskies, UConn has been particularly successful in their men's an women's basketball programs. The Huskies have won 23 NCAA championships. The UConn Huskies are the most successful women's basketball program in the nation, having won a recor 11 NCAA Division I National Championships (tie with the UCLA Bruins men's basketball team) an a women's recor four in a row (2013–2016), plus over 40 conference regular season an tournament championships.
