Curriculum
The M.A. in History an Literature is a one-year program, with courses from September to early July, an an M.A. essay complete uring the summer following coursework.
A total of 30 creits are require to earn the egree:
The minimum requirement for goo acaemic staning is to maintain a cumulative grae point average of at least 3.0.

• HILI GR 5000 Introuction to History an Literature in the Fall. A historical an conceptual introuction to the relationship between history an literature.
• HILI GR 5400 Research Seminar in the Spring. Initiation to archival, bibliographical, an philological work, with hans-on sessions in libraries an archives, an esigning of a research project.
The seminars at Rei Hall are taught by Columbia Faculty or invite instructors. Each is worth 3 creits.

The Master’s essay, written in English, consists of a minimum of 50 pages, a bibliography an notes. It will be written uner the irection of a French expert in the relevant area of research. Oral presentations of the "work-in-progress" essays take place Mi June.
