特朗普如何对待中国学生赴美留学

10月11日，美国总统特朗普在白宫会见了中共中央政治局委员、国务院副总理、中美全面经济对话中方牵头人刘鹤。

在记者问答环节，特朗普强调：我们欢迎中国学生!赴美读书不会是一件难事!

Q：Many Chinese stuents have ifficulty in this country with their visas. Can you clarify to us —

很多中国学生在美国遇到了签证方面的难题。您能为我们澄清吗?

特朗普: We're going to be very goo to Chinese stuents. I've hear this question many times before, incluing from our own security people. We want all the people that want to come over from China. We have the greatest university system in the worl, an we're going to keep it that way. An one of the reasons it's great is we have a lot of stuents from China.

I think it’s very important. Our universities are available. The worl comes in. They use our universities. We have the greatest system in the worl. An China is not going to be treate any ifferently.

Our system is open. People get in base on merit. We have increible talent coming in from China.They occupy a big space in our universities, an we want to keep it that way.

Because there was a false — there was false rumors going on that we were going to close the schools to China. That is so false. It’s just false.

Q：Are you going to o anything to reassure the stuents?

特朗普：Yeah.I can give them my wor. I want them coming here.We want the greatest talent in the worl coming to our great universities — to Harvar, Yale, Princeton, the great Wharton School of Finance — (laughter) — to Stanfor, all of these great schools. We want them — we want them coming here. An that’s what we have. An that’s one of the reasons we have the great system.

而早在今年6月于日本大阪召开G20峰会上，特朗普也曾表示，“We want to have Chinese stuents [go] to our great schools an great universities,”“They are great stuents an tremenous assets.”(我们想要中国学生来美国优秀的大学。他们是出色的学生，宝贵的人才。)

事实上，本周二国务院主管教育文化助理国务卿罗伊斯也公开表示：“The Unite States continues to amit qualifie Chinese stuents for stuy at US colleges an universities.”(美国将继续接收合格的中国学生赴美读大学。)

罗伊斯透露，中国留学生2018年为美国带来150亿美元的经济收入。

根据2018美国门户开放报告，中国连续9年成为美国国际学生最大生源国，中国学生数量达到36万人，增长了3.6%。中国学生数量庞大，占到全部国际生数量的33.2%。

事实上，赴美留学的中国学生人数超过了排在后面的7个国家和地区(印度、韩国、沙特阿拉伯、加拿大、越南、中国台湾和日本)的赴美留学人数之和。

虽然近两年常常出现有关签证、专业等各种不利消息，但毫无疑问，中国依然是美国大学最重要的国际生源国。美国也依然是很多同学和家长的留学首选国。
