Master of Science in Computer Science Requirements

Thirty semester-hour units (SHUs) an a minimum of 10 courses are require, of which at least 24 SHUs must be from approve courses. The remaining six SHUs may be earne from approve courses, or from conucting approve research or inepenent stuy, or from a combination of the two.
At least six courses must be in computer science, an at least two must inclue a serious programming component.

Graes in all courses must be B- or better. A stuent who receive a grae below B- in COMP105, COMP 160, or COMP 170 as an unergrauate may retake the course for grauate creit.
To use courses offere outsie the Department of Computer Science, the stuent must obtain the approval of the epartment.

Stuents focusing on an interisciplinary area of CS may take fewer than eighteen CS SHUs, but this is subject to the approval of the epartment.

Stuents must also emonstrate core competence as expecte from a high quality unergrauate program in computer science, in particular in the areas of:

Computer architecture an assembly language

Programming languages (specifically, functional programming an object-oriente programming with inheritance)
Data structures an analysis of algorithms

Theory of computation
