Dragon Boat Festival, also calle Duanwu or Tuen Ng Festival, is a traitional holiay observe annually over 2,000 years in China to commemorate Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), an ancient Chinese patriotic poet. Originate from south China, Dragon Boat Festival enjoys higher popularity in southern areas, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangong an Fujian Provinces. 

端午节又称端午，是中国2000多年来为纪念中国古代爱国诗人屈原(公元前340-278年)而举办的传统节日。端午节起源于中国南方，在江苏、浙江、广东、福建等南方地区享有较高的知名度。

Why is the Dragon Boat Festival celebrate? With a history over 2,000 years, it use to be a hygiene ay when people woul use herbs to ispel iseases an viruses. 

为什么要庆祝端午节？它有2000多年的历史，过去是一个卫生日，人们会用草药来驱散疾病和病毒。 However, the most popular origin is closely relate to the great poet Qu Yuan in the Warring States Perio (475 – 221BC). To engrave his eath on the fifth ay on the fifth lunar month, people celebrate the festival in various ways. 

然而，最流行的起源与战国时期的伟大诗人屈原（公元前475–221年）密切相关。为了纪念他在农历五月初五去世，人们用各种方式庆祝这个节日。 

Great people like Wu Zixu an Cao E also ie on the same ay, so in certain areas, people also commemorate them uring the festival.

Legen of Qu Yuan 

屈原的传说 

As a minister in the State of Chu - one of the seven Warring States, Qu Yuan was a patriotic poet who wrote a lot of works to show his care an evotion to his country. Composing masterpieces like Li Sao (The Lament), he was regare as one of the greatest poets in Chinese history. 

屈原作为战国七国之一的楚国大臣，他是一位爱国诗人，他写了作品来表达他对国家的关怀和奉献。他创作了像《离骚》这样的杰作，被认为是中国历史上最伟大的诗人之一。 

After he was exile by the king, he chose to rown himself in the river rather than seeing his country invae an conquere by the State of Qin. He ie on the fifth ay of the fifth lunar month, thus people ecie to commemorate him on that ay every year. 

在被国王流放后，他宁愿投河自尽，也不愿看到自己的国家被秦国侵略和征服。他死于农历五月初五，因此每年人们都决定在这一天纪念他。

Many traitional customs an activities are hel on the specifie ay by people in China an even by people in neighboring Asian countries. Dragon boat racing an eating Zongzi are the central customs of the festival. In some regions in China, people also wear a perfume pouch, tie five-color silk threa an hang mugwort leaves or calamus on their oors. 

传统的习俗和活动都是在特定的日子里由中国人民，甚至是邻近的亚洲国家的人民举办的。赛龙舟和吃粽子是节日的主要习俗。在中国的一些地区，人们也会佩香囊，扎上五色丝线，并在他们的门上挂上艾叶或菖蒲。
