西澳大学和澳大利亚中国理事会之间新的国际伙伴关系将推进对胃溃疡主要原因的研究。现在， 由“幽门螺杆菌之父”诺贝尔医学奖得主西澳大学教授巴里·马歇尔 发起的澳大利亚中国幽门螺杆菌研究基金会，为杰出的中国医学科学家提供了 与世界领先的细菌研究者一起在澳大利亚珀斯工作的机会 。

巴里·马歇尔教授通过疯狂的“以身试菌”，发现了幽门螺旋杆菌及其诊断治疗方法。2005年他与病理学家沃伦教授共同获得诺贝尔生理学或医学奖。更加难能可贵的是，马歇尔从未因获得诺奖而放弃临床工作，他挤出一切可能时间坚持门诊亲自看病人，被评为“全球最受欢迎的诺贝尔奖获得者”。

作为第一个发现这种细菌和其对胃病影响的医学家，巴里·马歇尔教授也是中国的老朋友，他说： “我希望这项奖学金能够加强中国对于幽门螺杆菌的认识和专业知识，有效地减少幽门螺杆菌在中国的感染率。”

申请及要求

Program Overview

The Australia-China Helicobacter Research Fellowship is esigne to give caniates specialist training in H. pylori culturing, sequencing an analysis, along with an introuction to research at The University of Western Australia.

Stuents will unertake a week of workshops in research founations, before commencing the specialist training program. The training will be primarily provie by Dr Alfre Tay, Manager, Helicobacter Research Laboratory.

Throughout the program, caniates will be expecte to integrate into the research activities at The University of Western Australia an make the most of the University’s library facilities for inepenent stuy when not unertaking training.

All caniates will receive a Certificate of Participation. Caniates unertaking the Fellowship will be require to sign a confientiality agreement with The University of Western Australia.

Prerequisites

To be eligible, caniates must have:

a Memoranum of Unerstaning between the caniate’s host university/hospital/institution an The University of Western Australia. This can be facilitate by The University of Western Australia an takes approximately two weeks.

eligibility an approvals to apply for an appropriate visa to travel to Australia.

basic knowlege in microbiology, basic aseptic technique, an basic unerstaning in Linux an other bio-informative tools.

proficiency in written an oral English.

their own laptop with minimum specifications, incluing:

Winows 7, Winows 8, Winows 10 or Winows Server 2012

OS X 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 an macOS 10.12

Program Dates

Program Costs 

AU $15,000

Three (3) scholarship placements are available per year. These scholarships waive the AU $15,000 program costs but other costs still apply (see below).
