专业介绍

食品营养学是一门交叉学科，强调综合运用化学、生物、营养学以及工程学知识来分析食品的特点和属性，以及不同文化、不同生活方式、不同年龄层次人群的营养需求，将会学习如何储存、加工、包装、分销食品，以及如何使食品在经济实惠的条件下既确保安全卫生，又有益于健康。

食品科学是很小众的学科，而且方向分散，以后的发展很不同，Nutrition更偏基础研究一些，招PhD的多，Food Science则更易于去企业工作，多数学校提供Master项目。

就业前景

食品制造商，食品原料供应商，食品加工设备供应商，包装材料供应商，其他食品相关企业。政府职能部门如海关、商检、质量监督、卫生防疫、环境保护部门等。

职业导向：食品技术专家，食品研究和开发科研人员，质量控制经理，食品检验员，食品加工工程师，食品包装技术专家等。

申请注意事项

美国食品营养专业通常会设在大型综合性大学的农学院，应用科学学院，人体生态学，家庭经济学，家庭和消费者科学的下面。

很多学校会有先修课程的要求，如亚利桑那大学就要求，营养学硕士课程的申请者必需在本科期间修完解剖学实验课和生理学实验课，生物化学，普通化学（包含实验课），微生物学，有机化学和统计学这些课程。

由于美国食品加工产业发达，食品专业在美国的就业环境很好，在美国属于次热门申请专业，此专业招收的国际学生并不多，申请难度较高。
