蒙纳什大学（monash university），世界百强名校，是澳洲八大名校（group of eight）的盟校成员。于1958年由国会建立，是维多利亚州的第二所古老的大学，为纪念杰出的澳大利亚军人、学者兼工程师约翰·蒙纳什爵士，大学以其姓氏命名。

蒙纳什大学地理概况

蒙纳什大学位于墨尔本，墨尔本（melbourne）是澳大利亚维多利亚州的首府、澳大利亚联邦第二大城市，澳洲文化、 工业中心，是南半球最负盛名的文化名城。墨尔本曾是澳大利亚联邦的首都，城市绿地率高达40%。大墨尔本地区面积达到3,400平方英里（8806平方公 里），是南半球较大的都会区之一。墨尔本城市环境非常优雅，曾荣获联合国人居奖，并连续多年被联合国人居署评为“全球最适合人类居住的城市” 。

墨尔本的气候比较干燥，相对湿度常在30%到50%之间，属于亚热带与温带交叉型气候，冬季气温一般维持在零上3度至15度左右，夏季气温多在20至35度之间，有时也可达到40度以上。

墨 尔本由于地理位置的关系，日夜温差比较大，夏天即使白天气温高达三十多度，晚上也会下降至12度左右，因此墨尔本的气温有“一天四季”的说法。在冬天，墨 尔本不太冷，白天气温一般在10摄氏度以上。墨尔本冬天也不会下雪，但它的周围有山，在冬天时，高山上有积雪，所以每到冬季，墨尔本附近的高山是个滑 雪的好地方。

墨尔本有“澳大利亚文化之都”的美誉，也是国际闻名的时尚之都，其服饰、艺术、音乐、电视制作、电影、舞蹈等潮流文化均享誉全球。

墨尔本是南半球第一个主办过夏季奥运会的城市，一年一度的澳大利亚网球公开赛、f1赛车澳大利亚分站、墨尔本杯赛马等国际著名赛事都在墨尔本举行。
