官方认证STEM专业，共计422个

转眼间，特朗普已经任职美国总统一年多的时间。记得当初希拉里阿姨在精选的时候，曾经承诺要让STEM专业研究生毕业自动获得绿卡，虽然她在竞选中落败，但也足以见得她对STEM专业的重视程度。不过好在特朗普跟希拉里两人对STEM的重视程度是相同的。

2016年5月10日开始，“STEM专业OPT延期最终政策文件”正式生效，其中最值得关注的就是STEM专业的OPT从17个月 延期到24个月 ，加上 原有12个月 的OPT时间，STEM专业学生OPT总 共有36个月 的时间！

由此，美国对STEM人才的重视程度可见一斑！

那么今天，我们就来聊聊在美国如此受重视的“STEM”。

STEM

STEM由 Science、Technology、Engineer和Mathematics 的首字母组成，比如化工、计算机科学、物理、数学、航空航天之类的。并且根据文章开头提到的政策，在美国读STEM的毕业生将有 36个月 的时间来找工作和申请H1B工作签证。

你适合STEM吗？

STEM专业大部分是理工科类的，所以国内与STEM 这些专业相对应的理工科学生都是比较适合申请的。整体而言，美国招收理科专业学生的数量是远远不及工科学生数量的。而在工科专业中，电子工程、计算机、机械工程是招生规模和申请人数最多的三个工科专业。而对于理科，虽然国内本科培养的理科专业人数也不少，例如生物专业，但由于该专业的学生在职业初期的薪水普遍非常低，薪水也反映了一定的供给和需求，所以国际生去美国读生物科学并不是一个非常理想的选择。

另一方面，文商科的学生有些专业也是在STEM大类下面。例如近些年比较热门的金融工程，金融数学，商业数据分析、信息管理系统，以及新加入STEM大类的经济学方面的计量经济学、数理经济学。这些一般都是商学院下开设的专业，在申请时也会招收文商科背景的学生，但大家可能都看出来，这部分专业虽然属于商科，往往都是对学生的数理背景、计算机能力有着很高的要求。所以文商科的学生想要申请美国STEM专业，可以以这些专业为跳板，同时要尽早提升自己数学和计算机方面的背景。
