Capstone Project

The MPP program aims to eucate stuents to think critically about public policy an to emonstrate a mastery of the various skills emboie in the curriculum.

Stuents choose between two capstone experiences: completing a thesis, or completing a client-base capstone. Both options span two semesters, an involve answering a policy question in an analytically rigorous manner, rawing on the knowlege an skills of the MPP curriculum.

Stuents who choose the thesis capstone option will evelop a research question an work with their avisor to formulate an implement a research plan. Stuents who choose the client-base capstone option will work with a small group of fellow stuents to stuy a real policy problem for an actual organization.

Electives

MPP stuents expan on the analytical skills they attain in their core coursework with 18 creits of elective courses. Stuents have an array of elective courses. Our expert faculty teach a wie range of elective courses, focusing on toay’s most relevant policy areas an methos.

Many McCourt School stuents choose to align their elective coursework with their interests an career goals. While not require, stuents may choose to focus their elective coursework in a particular area of stuy like Environmental Policy, Health Policy, or Development Policy.

MPP/MBA

The ual egree consists of 39-creit hours of public policy coursework an 45-creit hours of business coursework (84 total creit hours) over three years, rather than the four years normally require when completing the egrees separately.

MPP/PhD in Government

The egree is esigne to attract motivate stuents intereste in both politics an policy who esire to pursue positions for applie research, teaching, or evaluation an consulting in universities, nonprofit, business or government organizations.

The ual egree consists of 69-creit hours total an involves approximately six semesters to complete require coursework.

MPP/PhD in Psychology

The program will prepare stuents for an array of post-egree positions in institutions of higher eucation, research institutes, government agencies an other policy settings, meical settings, an nonprofit organizations. This 51-creit program provies an interisciplinary eucation in the sciences that concern themselves with the processes an contexts of evelopment across the lifespan.

MPP/JD

The ual egree consists of 39-creit hours of public policy coursework an 76-creit hours of law coursework (115 total creit hours) over four years, rather than the five years normally require when completing the egrees separately.

MPP/MSFS

The ual MPP/MSFS (Master of Science in Foreign Service) is aime at stuents who have an interest in pursuing professions in international affairs policy in the public, private an non-profit sectors. Stuents in the program will evelop the rigorous tools of policy analysis while obtaining substantive training in international affairs.

The ual egree consists of 78- creit hours (39 for MPP an 39 for MSFS) an requires three years to complete. Stuents are also require to pass a manatory MSFS oral exam as well as a language an map tests.

MPP/MAGES

The BMW Center for German an European Stuies (CGES) program gives stuents the option of spening either their secon year, or the spring term of their secon year, at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Stuents in this ual egree program earn both Georgetown’s Masters in Public Policy (MPP) an the HEC Paris’ Masters in Management-Grane Ecole (MiM). The MPP/MiM ual egree will provie an inter-isciplinary skill set, international eucational experience, an an integrate work experience in both Europe an North America for professionals in the early stages of their careers.

To earn this ual egree, stuents must complete the full first year MiM curriculum requirements at HEC Paris, 36 creits at the McCourt School, an an internship over the course of an intense 28 months. All of the teaching for the ual egree program is in English.
