美国留学小课堂：数学数据科学

近期，在最新相关职业的调查中发现，机器学习和数据科学工程师已经超过传统软件工程师，跃升为最高薪群体，年薪中位数高达$129,000。

IBM预测：未来3年，企业对数据科学类岗位需求量将猛增28%。到2020年，所有美国数据科学类岗位数量将增加36万个，总数达到270万。

美国湾区的科技公司和纽约华尔街无疑是对这方面人才需求最迫切的地方。除此之外，机器学习和数据科学工程师在西雅图、洛杉矶、华盛顿和波士顿也都炙手可热。在各行各业的H1B审核越来越严格的情况下，数据科学类岗位H1B持有数呈大幅上升趋势，同时，收入也在逐年增长。

Robert Half Technology 对数据科学的评价：“Data Scientist（数据科学家）可能是你能在名片上写下的最热头衔之一，并且你离硅谷越近，这个职位就越有价值。数据科学家跟麒麟一样稀有，而且每天的工作都需要有充满好奇心的数据奇才那样的思维体系。

需要有广泛的数据科技技能和处理，分析原始数据的天赋，以及用一个吸引人可信服的方式来与同伴分享自身的深刻见解。这也难怪为什么像谷歌和微软这些公司都非常渴望像这样的人才。”

进入数据科学行业需要哪些知识技能？

根据2016年O’Reilly对数据科学职位薪酬的研究，所有研究对象（983个样本：45个国家+美国45个州）的薪酬中位数是87000美元，其中，五分之三的样本来自于美国，他们的薪酬中位数为106000美元。与美国东北部与中西部相比，西北部的薪酬中位数更高（105000美元对比98000美元），而加州拥有最高的薪酬中位数。

专业技能方面，调查显示，Python和Spark是对薪水贡献最大的两大工具，最受欢迎的工具是Excel和SQL，接下来是R以及Python。超过90%的被调查者表示会花时间在编码上，80%至少会Python、R以及Java中的一种，8%的人会使用全部三种语言。

总的来说，影响薪酬高低的因素有很多，而能力越大相应地也就获得的越多。最后看两个应聘数据分析师的面试题目：

腾讯：『给40亿个不重复的unsigne int的整数，没排过序的，然后再给一个数，如何快速判断这个数是否在那40亿个数当中?』

微软：『请写一个方程，优化我们在 Twitter 和 Facebook 上的广告费用支出。』

哈佛大学-MSc in Data Science

世界顶级大学，美国哈佛大学（Harvar University），前一段时间新增设了一个硕士项目——Master of Science in Data Science，2018年秋为第一届招生。

毕达学子（纽约大学-DS在读）：关于选校，我觉得以提升个人实力为主，毕竟DS这样的技术类专业，找工作基本都有coe test，企业发几道题给你做一下就知道水平了，还有很多在现场面试的时候，会有一两个人看着你的屏幕让你现场做半个或一个小时的编程题，所以有没有水平一般假不了。建议大家还是要先了解课程配置和课程内容，选择对自己最合适的。

最后推荐一本书，《Data Science for Business》，作者是NYU的一个教授。如果有同学日后来读NYU DS这个专业，这个书也将是一门必修课的必读书，这个书可以让大家初步了解一下Data Science的基本概念，看看自己是不是真的感兴趣里面的内容。
