In recent weeks, tensions in Unite States–China relations an increase scrutiny of acaemic exchanges have ae to a sense of unease among many international stuents an scholars here at Yale an at universities across the country.
I write now to affirm Yale’s steafast commitment to our international stuents an scholars; they are vital to the university community. In aition, I am working with my presiential colleagues in the Association of American Universities (AAU) to urge feeral agencies to clarify concerns they have about international acaemic exchanges. The AAU has encourage agencies to use the tools alreay in place, such as export controls, while affirming the principle of open acaemic exchange for basic research.
