For native English speakers:

We require the SAT or the ACT. We o not prefer one over the other. In aition, we require two SAT Subject Tests: one in math (level 1 or 2), an one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m). We o not have a preference as to which science test you take or which math level you take.

For non-native English speakers:

You have two options: 1) take the tests require for native English speakers (see above), or 2) take the TOEFL an two SAT Subject Tests, one in math (level 1 or 2) an one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m). If you have been using English for less than 5 years or o not speak English at home or at school, we strongly suggest that you take the TOEFL, although it is not require for you to o so.

For the TOEFL Internet Base Test (iBT), the minimum composite score is a 90. We recommen scores of at least 23 for each section, an a composite score of at least 100. Similarly, for the TOEFL revise Paper-Delivere Test (rPDT), we recommen scores of at least 23 for each section. If you have taken the TOEFL Paper Base Test (PBT) prior to June 2017, the minimum composite score is a 577, with a recommene composite score of at least 600.

Interview

About the Interview

At MIT we on't just want to see how you look on paper: we're intereste in the whole person. That's why, whenever possible, we offer an interview with a member of the MIT Eucational Council, a network of over 4,500 MIT grauates aroun the worl who volunteer to meet with applicants in their home area.

If there are no alumni/ae volunteering to interview in your area, we may try to arrange a SKYPE interview for you or your MyMIT account will inicate that we are unable to offer you an interview with a local volunteer. Please on't let this istress you. Remember, the interview is not a require component of the application, an the Amissions Committee will be aware that we were unable to offer you an interview.

If available, interviews are strongly recommene. In fact, last year, of eligible applicants, we amitte 10.8% of those who ha an interview (or who ha their interview waive) but only 1% of those who chose not to interview.
